STATEMENT
A spool of thread – a humble form of utilitarian simplicity- inspired a series of paintings connecting me to my female ancestors. From one generation to the next, this icon's profound history chronicles stories of necessity, practicality, fashion, poverty and sweat.

As the work evolved it included connections to the global community, both literally and metaphorically. We share a 'Common Thread' which sews us into a fabric called the world.

At one time, a needle was a woman's most prized possession...
